Linotype developed its own version of the Ludlow. The All Purpose Linotype (APL) became a machine able to cast large type sizes.

The Linotype Junior was a crossing between the Linotype and the Typograph, and was also developed by John R. Rogers.

Nebitype was similar to the Ludlow.

The Unitype was another typesetter, recognizable by its round cilinder on top, and was more successful than now remembered. It first went by the name 'Thorne', then as 'Simplex', to end with the name 'Unitype'.
