Special cases were developed for the Ludlow, with drawers placed under an angle of more or less 45 degrees:

This was done so the operator of the Ludlow could take a seat while composing a line of type. The top of the cases can be furnished as desired, to create an efficient workflow.

The drawers contain different compartments, in which the matrices are sorted per letter:
