Matrix Slides

Matrix slides are brass elements that cover the length of a whole line. This allows to quickly cast rules, borders, and other ornaments.

A matrix slide block is needed to insert the matrix slides into the machines:



In this matrix slide block, a matrix slide is inserted. This way, a line is quickly set. Matrix slides are often used for ornamental lines and borders. An overview of available lines is provided in the book 'Linotype Faces', from page 1081 to page 1113.
