There is an Intertype machine from around 1934 in the Media, Arts & Design faculty of the University College PXL (PXL) in Hasselt (BE)
Even in the graphic world the historic importance of these kind of machines is not known anymore. Nevertheless are these machines responsible for a faster setting of type from 1884 till around 1970 and they made it possible more printed matter appeared, resulting in a faster distribution of knowledge.
Because these machines almost totaly disappeared, we decided to restore this machine to its original state. The Intertype in the PXL-MAD is in the period 2014-2015 fully restored in working condition. This page shows an overview of the work and offers the possibility to download all photos made.

In de Media, Arts & Design faculty van de hogeschool PXL te Hasselt (BE) staat een Intertype uit ongeveer 1934.
Zelfs in de grafische wereld is het historische belang van deze machines niet meer zo gekend. Nochtans zijn het dit soort machines die er van 1884 tot ongeveer 1970 voor gezorgd hebben dat tekst zetten veel sneller verliep en er meer drukwerk verscheen. Door deze toename aan gedrukt materiaal werd kennis veel vlugger verspreid.
Omdat deze machines haast volledig verdwenen zijn werd besloten om deze ene Intertype terug in zijn oorspronkelijke staat te herstellen. De Intertype in de PXL-MAD is in 2014-2015 terug in werkende toestand hersteld. Deze pagina toont een overzicht van het werk en biedt de mogelijkheid om alle gemaakte foto's te downloaden.
